Welcome to the Ring of Fire

I've actually come to love the burning.

Not like I love Vosges Mo's Dark Chocolate Bacon Bars.

Or light sparkling on a lake.

Or the color and quality of sunlight at dusk.

Those sensual pleasures feel like warm honey through my body.

Gentle, relaxing, nourishing to my heart.

But most if not every spiritual tradition and many spiritual rituals involve fire for a reason.

Fire transforms.

No, I don't exactly love the burning of being in what MarthaBeck calls

The Ring of Fire.

It's not comfortable. Often, it's downright painful. And terrifying.

But I have come to see why people who worship the Goddess Kali or Pele love them so.

Because they will stop at nothing in service of what the soul is made for.

They will not stop until what no longer serves the soul's desire has been destroyed or transformed.

It's a purification process that involves a lot of loss and letting go.

And it's also a grace.

The kind of grace that peels your hands off of something you're gripping to so tightly when deep inside you want to let go, but you just can't seem to make yourself do it.

Are you noticing this fierce grace in your life?

Know that you're not alone.

We're right there with you – in the burning. In the letting go. In the fire.

Much love and courage to you.
